MILFORD — A 33-year-old West Haven man was killed when his motorcycle was struck by a person driving under the influence on Interstate 95 Friday night, state police said.

Victor Ryan Forbes, of 27 Meadowbrook Road in West Haven, died as a result of the crash, which occurred in the area of Exit 39A on I-95 north in Milford around 7:20 p.m. Friday, according to Connecticut State Police.

Bilbraut Angel Caraballo, 42, of Middlefield, was arrested and charged with failure to maintain proper lane and operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs in connection with the incident, police said. Caraballo is scheduled to appear in Milford Superior Court on Oct. 12.

Police said Caraballo, whose Ford F550 Super Duty was towing a trailer, drifted into the highway's left lane and collided with Forbes' motorcycle, pushing it into the concrete median barrier. Forbes was thrown from his Honda bike, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Following the crash, Caraballo, who was uninjured, displayed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests, police said.

Police are investigating the fatal crash. Any witnesses should contact Trooper Allen at 203-696-2500 or [email protected].
